It takes awhile to get back into painting when you have taken a break from it. This acrylic painting was a great intro (…more like a kick in the pants…) into relearning how to “draw” accurately and mix colors correctly. The colors were especially hard to get right since the evening sunset altered the color of the foxes fur quite a lot. It can be really hard to make your brain focus in on what color you are REALLY seeing instead of just automatically picking what is ingrained in our memories. I kept wanting to make the fox’s fur orange…but in the shadows I really had to bring out the blues to contrast the warm glow of the setting sun in the highlights. It was a lot of fun to work on, I hope you enjoy it!
